Develop 700 new dwellings, initially to accommodate around 6500 of the world’s top athletes during the 2014 Commonwealth games and afterwards to form the core of a sustainable community which will form the heart of a major redevelopment of Glasgow’s east end.
Develop a mix of 2, 3 and 4-storey apartments, townhouses, semi-detached and detached dwellings which meet the immediate needs of the athletes whilst providing an attractive and desirable mix for onward sale and rent post-Games. To meet the most demanding EcoHome excellent standards, the project has followed a fabric-first approach, with airtight, highly insulated external envelopes and a range of Ibstock brick finishes to provide economy, durability and low maintenance, and to provide a modern visual that celebrates the area’s historic industrial context.
