To provide a contemporary, affordable garden room extension which blended with the existing domestic structure and allowed visual access to the exterior green space.
Ibstock Linear Natural Cream was utilised for the single storey extension over the painted roughcast of the original structure, in order to retain costs within client budget without compromising sustainability or aesthetic appeal. Visual interest was provided by the use of both 440mm and 327mm length bricks in a distinctive linear bond mirrored in the construction of an adjacent garden wall. The use of 50mm high bricks reinforced the linearity of the extension, which was linked coherently to the existing structure by the introduction of a matching slate roof, while the presence of exposed brickwork in the interior pier elevations blurs the distinction between interior and exterior space.
