To create a modern, non-institutional appearance that merges old with new in the iconic building, considerably extended and remodelled to accommodate expanded pupil numbers following the school’s amalgamation with a nearby High School.
The original 1930’s façade has been retained and refurbished and the old building remodelled and considerably extended by the addition of new 3-storey ‘’learning clusters’ which extend like fingers from the main spine towards landscaped areas at the rear.
Ibstock Silver White bricks and matching light mortar are coupled with large horizontal fenestration bands to reduce the visual impact and add linearity to the scheme, whilst at the same time creating a distinctive modern appearance that cleverly merges old with new and reinforces the lightness and spaciousness of the modern interior.
